How to Contribute to Bradley Manning's Legal Defense

There are several organizations that are collecting donations for the defense of PFC Bradley Manning.  The only organization that is contributing funding to PFC Manning's legal defense is "Courage to Resist."  Other organizations have been established independently to promote advocacy and awareness related to PFC Manning's case.  These organizations do not contribute in any way to the legal expenses involved.

If you would like to ensure that a 100% of your donation goes directly to costs associated with the legal defense, the best way to do so is by making a contribution to legal trust account.  In order to do this, please mail a check or money order to "IOLTA/Manning" and mail to Courage to Resist, 484 Lake Park Ave. #41, Oakland, CA  94610.

Alternatively, you can make a donation to the Bradley Manning Defense Fund through "Courage to Resist" here.  A portion of this donation will go toward the legal defense effort.  The remainder will go towards public education and support activities.

  1. Some are considering a symbolic protest by mailing Pfc. Manning articles of clothing. I know such items can't be passed on to him, but would the authorities be allowed to simply destroy them or would they be passed along to a representative of Manning?

  2. there are some disturbing aspects of this case - torturing Bradley Manning is one thing the US should be ashamed of - but here's another: why is he being blamed for this situation? Who was the "manager" who gave the OK for classified material to be made available on computers with disc burners and USB ports? Basic security FAIL and THAT is where the responsibility lies for this situation - but i'm guessing whoever that person is, is senior - very senior? Hmmmmmm?

STOP TORTURING BRADLEY MANNING - STOP SHOOTING THE MESSENGER

  3. As the Mother of an ROTC cadet all I can think of is what has my son signed up for? Reading different articles and sites about the treatment of Bradley Manning is heart breaking. IF this is how our military treats our own...our military MUST be in violation. It seems to me, the charges against Manning are vociferous and overkill. Given, the diplomat/spy that was outed some years ago, a woman stationed in Africa? None of the military individuals who 'outed' her came to any form of punishment. From the media I've read, the material allegedly leaked to Wikileaks was redacted so, what harm has been done? Please do your best to aid and protect young Bradley Manning. Surely, the treatment he is receiving violates our conventions if not the Geneva Convention itself. I've contributed to Mannings' legal fund and plan to write those individuals key to his prosecution. Please inform Bradley many support him. Let me know what else we can do to help him. Thanks and best of luck!
